Designed by professional behavioral dog trainer Shawn Stewart and designer Rebecca L. DeLuccia for optimal length, hand positioning, grip, and durability. Shawn ditched the traditional 6-foot length for his signature measurement, creating the perfect loose-leash feel without added material.
1. Choose Your Width
- Narrow Grip (5/8"): Well-suited for small-to-medium dogs or handlers with petite hands. Hooks are rated for dogs under 65 lbs.
- Wide Grip (3/4"):Built for medium-to-large dogs and handlers who prefer a more substantial grip. Hooks are rated for dogs over 70 lbs.

2. Choose Your Style
- Integrated Color Tabs:Customize your leash with a pop of color at the thumb loop and snap hook ends.
- Plain Black: Skip the color and order it without tabs for the same no-frills function.
Material & Function
- The Grip: Black textured PVC for a superior grip; colored PVC for accents. Both are genuine, non-porous, "Made in the USA" BioThane®—stink-proof, waterproof, and grime-proof.
- Thumb Loop: Built-in loop for optimal hand positioning.
- O-Ring (Thumb Loop): Allows for easy cross-body wear when your dog is off-leash.
- O-Ring (Leash Body): Converts the traditional lead into an integrated choke + lead for quick control.
Hardware Configurations
- Black, Matte Nickel or Red Hooks: Black rivets, gun metal (3/4) or matte nickel rings (5/8), and a matte nickel snap hook.
- Marine Grade Stainless Steel Hook: Matte nickel rivets with gun metal (3/4) or matte nickel rings (5/8).
- Metallic Gold Color Tabs (5/8 only): Black rivets, black o-rings, and bronze snap hook.
Easy to Clean & Sanitize
Use the same CDC protocol for washing your Get a Grip leash as you would your hands: soap and scrub for Happy Birthday x2. Or, use a non-alcohol-based disinfectant spray (e.g., Lysol).
DO NOT use alcohol sanitizers — they will stiffen the BioThane material.
Each leash is proudly bench-crafted to order in Ramsey, NJ. Allow up to 1-2 weeks for delivery.
